On a sunny Saturday morning on the 26th of April the BSDHT South East had their Spring Meeting 2008. The meeting took place at the impressive David Solomon Centre in Tunbridge Wells.

After the morning coffee and small chit chat with the demonstrating suppliers, the chairman of the regional group Miss Sarah Cox started the meeting by welcoming the members and wishing them an interesting morning. Afterwards Mrs Sally Cooper, who is also on the committee, discussed a few important issues about regulations in regards to performing whitening treatment on patients. She, like many hygienists and therapists is in favour of giving the hygienists/therapists the right to provide whitening service.

The meeting's first lecturer was the experienced Dr Freddie Martin who is a registered odontologist. He talked about forensic odontology from a very interesting point of view. Members listened and were impressed by the topic and how important charting and teeth characteristics are in the work of the forensic experts.

The second lecture was an update in Paediatric Dentistry. Latest news and updates were explained by Dr Adele Johnson who is a consultant in Paediatric Dentistry at Eastman Dental Hospital in London.

After the lectures, the assembly enjoyed a delicious salmon dish for lunch marking a successful end to the meeting.

Special thanks to the organising committee: Miss Sarah Cox, Liz Tompkins and Sally Cooper.
